Charge to Whitney and Michael

Weddings do not mark the beginning of a relationship, but the celebration of one that has already proven itself somehow. And your relationship certainly has proven itself. You two have been through so much already; your relationship has clearly shown that together you can handle almost anything.
From the very beginning, when you had to travel to see each other, you both knew that there was something special here. You each had high standards for yourselves, and rightfully so. You knew that you deserved strong and special partners and you were beginning to question whether you might have to settle. Aren’t you glad you didn’t?
Aren’t you glad you made it to that first date, which almost didn’t even happen? From that moment, Whitney was so taken with you, Michael. Though she wasn’t sure if you might be too serious…because your humor was so intelligent and clever. But she was pleasantly surprised to find that you were even sillier than she is.
Keep being silly together, for it will keep you young. Keep practicing your “no look high fives.” Keep making funny sounds and silly faces. Laugh together always, for that can carry you through such hardships. Keep outsmarting each other’s jokes.
And keep cherishing one another. It is remarkable how loved you each make the other feel. Whitney said that with Michael she feels like the most beautiful woman in the whole world. She feels his love in so many different ways and it means so much to her. Michael, continue to cherish her.
Do special things for one another. You’ve been through so much already, just enjoy each other for a while. You may go on more ROADTRIPS (Ridiculously, Outstanding, Albeit Daunting, Totally Radical Interstate Pilgrimage) but they won’t be as radical as the first, when you were going from seeing each other only on weekends to the confinement of a vehicle and a string of hotel rooms. Things will settle down a little for you both, enjoy that whenever you can.
Military life can be trying, so cherish all of the quiet and serene time that you can find together. Your time apart, when Michael was deployed in Iraq, was so hard for both of you. But through it, you found such commitment to each other and to keeping communication flowing, which is the cornerstone of any relationship. This is truly what makes relationships work, if you can find the lessons in the hard times you will survive anything. If you can let the trials bring you closer rather than tearing you apart, then you will continue to hold each other until your last breaths.
I have faith in the two of you. Your passion and dedication is so clear. Always know that you can share everything honestly with one another. Lighten the heaviness of life for each other by supporting one another and by laughing together. Continue to be generous with your love and it will be always blossoming and offering more light and beauty into this world that so needs it. Your love will be a blessing to this world.
